HOW DO STUDENTS AND TEACHERS LIKE TO USE MUSIC SOFTWARE AND ELECTRONIC SOUND SOURCES?
Teachers and students are always dreaming up different ways to use a computer music setup! Because electronic keyboards take up less space than pianos, teachers can often make good use of several of them, while teaching groups of students. The electronic studio is a virtual symphony of sounds, with applications that are just beginning to be explored. For example, students can hear their piano pieces played by another instrument, create an ensemble that helps them learn and understand a piece better, improvise with a pop or jazz combo, or even play a concerto with an orchestral accompaniment.
What are some more ways keyboard students and teachers use technology?
- Record original compositions, or piano repertoire pieces currently being learned, so they can be played back, evaluated, and/or shared online.
- Print music notation of pieces they have composed, so friends can play them, or to post on the web.
- Record, mix, or re-arrange their favorite piano or keyboard pieces. Pieces can be edited after they are played into the system.
- Learn about orchestration by arranging one of their favorite piano pieces for other instruments to play.
- Arrange, mix and record some of their favorite pieces or songs, in a pop, jazz, classical or other musical style.
