It began as a simple idea.  Link an eager student interested in learning music but in financial need, with a caring teacher willing to teach at a reduced rate and let the music begin.  This is how the MusicLink Foundation was born 15 years ago and today over 3,000 disadvantaged children nationwide have had the opportunity to learn music—something they could never have hoped to have had without this program.

If you are the parent or guardian of a child who shows musical potential, but can’t afford to provide lessons, this program may be for you.  If you are a music teacher willing to reach out to a child in need to provide lessons at up to half your normal rate, this program is for you.  If you are a classroom teacher, youth director, choir director, anyone who works with children and recognizes musical potential, here is a program that can help that child nurture that potential.

Founded by Dr. Joanne Haroutounian, a specialist in musical talent development, of Arlington, VA, MusicLink has grown to include a collaboration with businesses, community schools, colleges, after-school programs, and hundreds of private music teachers across the country. The foundation assists students and teachers with reduced prices for music, donated instruments, camp scholarships, and grass roots grants for new programs. Funded by grants and individual donations, opportunities are made available for students and teachers in this outreach effort encompassing over 40 states.

The MusicLink Foundation invites you to join us as teacher, student, business partner or donor to help in our mission to bring musical education to all children regardless of financial status.
